What is Cryogesic?Cryogesic (ethyl chloride) is a fast-acting vapo-coolant spray that provides rapid, transient, topical local analgesia for minor invasive procedures, and a source of instant ‘coldness’ for tooth vitality testing and for tracking the efficacy of epidural blocks. Cryogesic is available in Direct Stream 100ml and Fine Spray 100ml aerosols, and in Fine Jet 50ml and 100ml glass flasks. What does Cryogesic do?Cryogesic acts as a local analgesic when sprayed topically onto the skin. It has no anaesthetic properties but rather works as a vapo-coolant. A thin film of liquid is sprayed onto the skin, which makes the skin cold and less sensitive as the liquid evaporates. The analgesic effect is almost instant because rapid evaporation of ethyl chloride causes cooling and numbing of the skin. This effect lasts for about 30 - 45 seconds until the skin re-warms, but will vary depending upon circumstances. Download the product data sheet - (PDF) |
